Dairy Day at Lackham today

From the Wiltshire Times, first published Sunday 13th May 2007.

VISITORS to Lackham Country Park this weekend will today have the chance to milk a life-size model cow, sample produce from local cheese maker Ceri Cryer and have a go at churning butter.

The Dairy Day, at Wiltshire College Lackham, near Chippenham, starts at 10am.

There will be tractor and trailer rides down to the farm to visit the modern dairy and watch demonstrations of Victorian butter making in the museum.

Mrs Cryer, who uses her cheese making skills to produce a variety of wonderful cheeses created from local traditional recipes, is sending some of her best cheese for visitors to try.

There will also be homemade cream teas on offer and a miniature passenger train will be operating throughout the day.

Admission is £2 for adults, £1.50 for concessions and children get in free.
