Dangerous chimney alert

DEVIZES firefighters had to call for an aerial appliance from Salisbury to dismantle a dangerous chimney in the town centre on yesterday night.

They were called to Old Forge Tropicals in Estcourt Street at 8.10pm and used the ladders they had with them to survey the damage to the chimney.

But they considered it too dangerous to do the work without the special extendable platform. The chimney had been made safe by 11pm.
