PEWSEY'S own Olympic heroine Shelley Rudman today told her biggest fans her silver medal was for them.
The morning after the biggest day of her life, and with only about 20 minutes sleep, she said: "I never expected to win silver and so this is for me and the people of Pewsey."
She said the achievement of winning the medal had still not sunk in.
She had spent the hours after her incredible skeleton bob triumph giving interviews to the world's media and then went on to a night club in Sestriere.
She said: "I have only had about 20 minutes sleep. I am just running on adrenaline.
"I still seems like a dream. It won't sink in until I am on the medal rostrum tonight."
She said her father had been one of biggest influences in taking up skeleton bob.
"Whenever it snowed he was always saying 'coming on lets get the toboggan out' and he encouraged me to take up an extreme sport."
She also praised her supporters in Pewsey on national TV for raising funds to make her Olympic dream possible.
On a live TV link she said to them: "You are all wonderful." more...
