THE Institute of Directors is hosting a seminar in Salisbury entitled Building A Better Board.

The seminar, on January 19, takes place at the White Hart Hotel.

A representative of Leadership South West at the University of Exeter will speak on the subject of Leading From The Boardroom Uplifting Performance.

There will be an interactive workshop, taking a look at leadership within the senior management team and the board, and exploring efficiency, strategy, governance and performance.

The event is being subsidised by Business Link Berkshire & Wiltshire and Exeter University, and supported by Salisbury & district chamber of commerce and industry.

It is particularly suited to directors in companies employing between 20 and 250 people.

Kieran McCann, director of Salisbury company Coldharbour Projects and a fellow of the institute, has organised the seminar.

He says that in the ever-changing world of business, the need for effective leadership has never been greater.

"This introduction to board development is an opportunity to sample the quality of material delivered on IoD director development programmes and to discuss the challenges faced by today's business leaders," he said.

The seminar, which is open to members and non-members, runs from 2pm to 4.30pm, with lunch served from 12.30pm.
