Junction still inadequate

From the Salisbury Journal, first published Friday 6th Jan 2006.

YET again, there has been traffic chaos at the junction of Wilton Avenue and the A360, because a coach tried to turn into the avenue from the direction of Salisbury.

This manoeuvre is only possible for such long vehicles when the road from Wilton is clear (which it rarely is at busy times in the morning and evening), as the angle of the turn necessitates the long vehicle encroaching well on to the opposite carriageway.

Was this not taken into account by the architects of the so-called junction improvement scheme', as it would seem to me to be a major flaw?

The only way for the gridlock to be resolved on this occasion was for the car waiting to cross into the Woodford Valley (mine) to abandon this plan and turn northwards.

Since Wiltshire county council refused to spend the money necessary to install the preferred and best option, a roundabout, perhaps they could be persuaded to alter this ridiculous bend, or at least erect signage preventing long vehicles from making this turn during the morning and evening rush hours.
