From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Thursday 5th Jan 2006.
FOURTEEN-year-old Catherine Clark is embarking on raising £1,200 for a Girl Guiding trip to Japan.
Catherine, of Market Lavington, has been selected to represent the South West region for the two-week camp, which takes place in August.
There will be around 250 girls from around the world at the camp.
Catherine is a member of Lavington Rangers, a youth section of the Girl Guides Association.
Catherine, a pupil at St Augustine's School in Trowbridge, has to raise the cost of the trip in order to go.
She is planning to cook big breakfasts and sell them at the Old School in Market Lavington on the third Sunday of each month from 10am to 1pm, starting on January 15.
Her brother Jack, 14, and his band The Roomers will be giving the profits from a gig towards her trip. The concert is at Easterton Village Hall on the evening of March 25.
Catherine will also be approaching local supermarkets asking if she and friends can pack shoppers' bags at the tills in return for donations.
Anyone who wants to help Catherine can call her on (01380) 813233.
