TV show’s ghostly appeal

From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Thursday 5th Jan 2006.

TOWNSPEOPLE are being asked for their ghost stories for a TV programme.

Filming in Devizes will take place next week and the producers are inviting the public to meet them on Tuesday evening at their truck in the Market Place.

The programme, called Derek Acorah's Ghost Towns, is hosted by psychic medium Derek Acorah with co-presenters former EastEnders actress Danniella Westbrook and Angus Purden from Cash in the Attic.

The programme will be shown on Living TV. Assistant producer Sue Venables said it would lift the lid on the paranormal goings on in towns across the nation.

She urged people with ghost stories relating to Devizes to visit their truck on Tuesday between 4pm and 5pm and 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

She said: "We will follow up some of the stories with a possible investigation with Derek so if people have experienced a ghostly phenomenon they want Derek to investigate they should come along."

Ms Venables has been assessing locations in Devizes. She would not reveal where but said it would not include the Black Swan Hotel, which Derek visited in 2004 for the Sky One programme Britain's Most Haunted.

Devizes will be the second town in Wiltshire being filmed for the series. Filming took place in Salisbury before Christmas.
