Cash snatched from taxi shelf

From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Thursday 5th Jan 2006.

A Rudloe taxi driver had cash taken from his cab in Box on Tuesday night.

Kate and Kevin Sowerby, of Kate's Taxis, have lost around £200 after their car was broken into between 5.30pm and 5.45pm. Mr Sowerby had stopped in the car park of the Queens Head pub in Box to pick up a customer but went inside the pub for about 15 minutes to wait for them.

When he went back out to his car the driver's door window had been broken and the money snatched from the driver's shelf, although it wasn't visible from outside the car.

Mrs Sowerby said: "There have been a number of incidents with taxi drivers ending up the victim of crime recently and I want to warn them to take care."
