Very young learn to get into dance rhythm

From the The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, first published Thursday 5th Jan 2006.

FUNKY new pre-school classes in music and dance will soon be starting in Chippenham for toddlers and babies as young as three months old.

MAD Academy has modern and fun classes for children aged from three months to four years old and classes are on Tuesday and Friday morning at The Cause Music and Dance Centre, The Causeway.

They include a mixture of high energy music and dance combined with carefully structured learning.

They give the children the opportunity to develop motor skills, physical co-ordination and confidence as well as the chance to explore different rhythms, musical instruments and musical styles.

The Academy is the brainchild of Helen Harrington and Sedge Gooding, both parents of pre-school children, who met and discovered a mutual passion for the arts. They started the business when they found there were very limited opportunities to engage young children in the excitement of dance and music.

The classes bring to life the basics of music and dance, including choreographed movement and dancing, singing, instruments and musical guessing games.

Mum Louiza Bruce set up the classes in Calne last year and is now ready to bring the magic to Chippenham.
