The Perfect Image

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Tuesday 31st Jan 2006.

WEDDING fever has hit the UK, with same sex ceremonies now becoming legal. Demonstrating your devotion for each other has never been a bigger event.

The average spend on a wedding is in the region of £15,000, so it's no surprise that more elaborate weddings are becoming very popular with couples wanting to make the most important day of their lives personal and unique to them.

Popular themed weddings include ceremonies abroad, underwater weddings, casino 'Vegas-style' weddings, tropical weddings and even pets getting wed or being bridesmaids!

Regardless of the kind of couple you are, one thing is for sure: you will want to do it in style and look your absolute best. If your big day is approaching soon, you will want your image to be a lasting one and to look as good as possible for the important event and those wonderful wedding photo memories.

Your beauty regime during the weeks running up to your wedding will be paramount in achieving this, ensuring your hair, skin and nails look wonderful.

If you are want to look younger on your big day, you may want to consider cosmetic treatments. To beat lines and wrinkles, the undisputed top treatments are Restylane and Botox injections. These are very small injections to help combat the signs of aging. Botox works by freezing the muscles. It makes lines on the forehead, frown lines and crow's feet much smoother and far less obvious.

For a perfect pout, Restylane injections make lips fuller and define lip shape. Restylane can also be used to define the lip border, smoothing the fine lines around the lips and for making lips fuller, smoother and more voluptuous. Restylane fills out the area it's applied to, and can also reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth as well as the rest of the face. These treatments last around nine months and prices vary from £230.

The cosmetic treatment should ideally be done around 10-12 weeks before your wedding, so it doesn't coincide with any facials you may want done to prepare your skin.

For skin, it's time to start thinking facials at least 6-10 weeks before your set date. Best results are achieved from having a course of facials, and you should have no more than one facial per week. For unbalanced skin, dry complexions, or to tighten and firm up the skin, try a Pure Logicol Age Defying Facial. This type of facial includes deep cleansing, facial massage and a collagen mask to bring the skin into great condition.

To revitalize your whole body and give skin a boost, visit your trusty beauty therapist for a Harley Body Wrap. These wraps are very cooling and help with inch loss. Body wraps are great for detoxing and firming, helping to tone muscles and have immediate measurable results. If you are having trouble fitting into your wedding outfit, body wraps can sometimes help. The massage is also good for skin and muscle tone.

MAKING UP FOR MARRIAGE

Make-up trials are always essential to ensure you get the look you want. A professional make-up artist is best, as they can apply your make-up in such a way that it has greater staying power and will look fantastic in your photos. A hair trial is just as important, and it can be useful to have this done at the same time as your make-up trial so that you get a good idea of your completed look.

Long hair put up is very traditional and the most popular of hair styles for weddings. Even if your hair isn't long enough to wear up or isn't as long as you would like it to be, there are ways of getting the look that you want.

A longer term solution for getting longer locks in a hurry are hair extensions. The extensions are real human hair that feels, looks and moves like your own. It is bonded to your own hair using a special system. Hair extensions do not damage your own natural hair, and if they are looked after as directed and removed professionally, your own hair will be in the same condition as it was before the extensions were applied. It may have even grown a bit longer. The extensions last 3-4 months but can be removed at any time. Prices start at around £300.
