Courier firm hits on a super way to improve

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Tuesday 31st Jan 2006.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's the latest professional approach to the courier business.

Swindon firm ASAP Personal Courier has launched its new code of conduct and together with it, introduced the world to ASAP Man.

The code of conduct is a set of rules and guidelines that goes into every detail as to how anyone working at ASAP must conduct themselves, especially when dealing with clients.

"Let's face it, couriers, in general, do have a little bit of a shoddy reputation," said Gary Jeffries, a partner at ASAP, "At ASAP, we have always strived to be that little bit different. We always remember that we are representing our clients when delivering their packages and parcels."

To that end, all ASAP drivers have to sign the code of conduct and ensure that they adhere to the standards defined.

ASAP Personal Couriers was founded in 1989 and currently runs 15 vans delivering throughout the UK. Gary and his partner, Keith Walker, have ambitious plans for the future.k "We are certainly looking to recruit more drivers, but the normal uniform is not quite as figure-hugging as ASAP man.

However, there is one contentious issue that Gary felt he had to address: "Much though I wish it were so, the rumour that ASAP Man's physique was modelled on my own is not true," he said.
