Let’s help the family of thief

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Tuesday 31st Jan 2006.

May I express my heartfelt sympathy for both the Rev Burles' family and the local community of Parks and East Walcot.

I have had some contact with the Burles family over many years as our children attended SYM together, and I have also worked as a practice nurse in the Park's area since 1991. The Rev Burles and his wife, Tina, have worked tirelessly in the Parks and Walcot areas, helping to motivate and renew the spirit of the community.

One of their projects has been their involvement in the Neighbourhood Renewal Company.

The loss of the money £26,000 for those working on this project will be deeply felt.

When sentencing, the Recorder's closing remarks seemed harsh when he expressed that it was a matter of conscience for any family member to reimburse the company for Nathan's wrongdoing.

Can we, the people of Swindon, help one of our communities to quickly replace some of this fund?

In doing this we would be supporting not only the families of Parks and Walcot but also offering the Rev Burles and his family some peace while they help and support their son.
