Trainees going free to a good employer!

From the Swindon Advertiser, first published Monday 30th Jan 2006.

Swindon College's Entry to Employment (E2) scheme is looking for new employers to take trainees on work-based learning.

E2E is the Government project to assist young people who are not yet ready to become apprentices, get their first foot on the employment ladder.

"There are real benefits for employers in that they get between six to 12 weeks' free labour under the scheme when they can bring the youngster up to their way of working,'' says College co-ordinator Lucy Edwards. "The college does all the paperwork so that burden is removed from the employer.'' Swindon College has an excellent record with more than 80 per cent of trainees successfully completing their training and Lucy is keen to stress that, in many cases, trainees have stayed on to work full-time with the employer after completion.

Already many major employers have participated, including Tesco, the National Trust, BMW, the de Vere Hotel and Swindon Council.

The college is very keen to hear from other potential participants. For further information please contact Catherine White at the College on 01793 498467 or e-mail CatherineWhite@swindon-college.ac.uk.
