Let's hear it for people power

From the Salisbury Journal, first published Monday 30th Jan 2006.

THERE'S no denying that Tisbury folk do believe in people power when it comes to saving facilities in their community.

Some of us have been through it before, about 40 years ago, when we succeeded in saving Tisbury station.

A pity we were not able to save Nadder Middle School.

I think we should give ourselves a pat on the back but make sure the importance of the sports centre is kept prominent in the minds of the people who count.

We say we do not mind the increases in costs. We'll make sure we increase the usage, despite these increased costs.

We should give a special thank you' to the editor and staff of the Salisbury Journal for the coverage in the paper of the campaign in Tisbury, with the marches in Salisbury, and reports of council meetings.

Due to this reporting, people were aware of what was happening the matter was being talked about in all the villages of south Wiltshire.

Thank you.
