Sports project launched

CALNE'S ambitious and exciting £1.7m sports facilities project has been officially launched to clubs in the town.

Representatives were invited to a meeting on Monday (Jan 30), where the scheme was explained to them.

The town council is attempting to raise money for what would be an impressive sports complex on land to the north of Beversbrook Road.

Outline planning permission has already been granted and, if successful in securing funding, a large portion of the 92-acre site would house a range of sports pitches and facilities.

A full-size floodlit football pitch is planned, to go alongside a number of junior and small-sided pitches.
