Locally there was far more interest in the Badminton Horse Trials.

Once again this event brought an international field of riders to the stately home just across the border in Gloucestershire and the crowd too travelled from far and wide to enjoy the spectacular.

For many the day out and the just to have a picnic in wonderful countryside was as much a draw as the riding.

Princess Anne's daughter Zara was not among the riders but she made an appearance as a bystander much to the delight of the royal watchers who are always out in force at these sort of events.
