Volunteer thanked for 60 years’ service

From the Wiltshire Times, first published Friday 27th Jan 2006.

DEDICATED volunteer Win Wiltshire, who has helped the National Blood Service for more than 60 years, retired last Wednesday.

Mrs Wiltshire, 81, of Saddlers Mead, Chippenham, first donated blood during the Second World War. Since then she has helped in the office, made teas and was the organiser for Chippenham.

She said: "It was sad to go after so many years, I had been looking for someone to replace me but the job has now come to an end anyway. They presented me with a framed certificate and a bouquet of flowers. It was very nice but very unexpected."

Rhian Walters, of the National Blood Service, said: "On behalf of the NBS I would like to thank Mrs Wiltshire for all her hard work, loyalty and commitment over the years."
