Laughter by son’s friend

CLARKE MURDER TRIAL: THE man who drove Michael Clarke to London on the day his parents were killed laughed in the witness box at the suggestion his friend was responsible for their murders.

Defence barrister Michael Hubbard asked witness Jonathan Scott if there was anything about Clarke to suggest he had killed both his parents in the 15 minutes before getting into Mr Scott's car.

Asked to explain the laugh he let out as he replied no' to the question Mr Scott, of Hazelwood Road, Melksham said: "I have never believed it."

Mr Scott said when he picked up Clarke at 9.10am on December 6 he was not agitated, dishevelled or out of breath, there was no sign of blood anywhere on him and he seemed perfectly normal.

He said Clarke was in a good mood on the journey to London and looking forward to the Blink-182 concert he was to see that evening.

He told the court he has known Clarke for three or four years and also worked with victim Milroy Clarke at the Somerfield store in Melksham.

Mr Scott said Mr Clarke snr and his wife, Joan, were loving and caring parents, who had a close relationship with their son.

He said Clarke never seemed bothered by the way his parents treated him and had never seen any arguments among the family members.
